Three emergency shelters are open to help residents impacted by the flood. The shelters offer a safe place to stay, a hot meal, minor first aid, and a shoulder to lean on. On Wednesday, Aug. 5, the University of Louisville's Belknap Campus and the School of Public Health and Information Sciences on the Health Sciences Campus will be closed. Duke Energy is reporting over 52,000 customers without power. Here's a breakdown of the counties in our area: LG&E is reporting 18,000 customers without power and KU customers 20,000. Officials expect this number to rise. I spoke with Oldham county and they are not having any problems just some rain. ...People are calling and said that Horseshoe Casino was closed. I spoke with an official with the casino and she told me at 4:28pm they are OPEN!!!!! Shelby County Police say it's just raining. They do have a couple of trees down but that's it. ...Police say they are not having any problems at this time. When I spoke to them earlier they had no accident reports. They are experiencing some rain and a few trees down but they are not getting nothing like Louisville. I spoke with the Hardin County Sheriff's Department and they are not having any problems. They did say it was windy and real cloudy but that was it. They have no reports of any type of problems. Police are saying that they have some roads that are flooded. The have no reports of any accidents. There's also a few tree down. Good news for Orange County they are reporting no problems. Police say they are getting heavy rain.
