It's usually tough to call the UofL/UK game, especially since it's the season opener. So many new faces on both sides. I don't feel totally confident in my selection. But here it is..
On offense, obviously you have to give a major QB edge to UofL. Hunter Cantwell has shown he can get it done. He's already gone through the jitters of his first few starts. Some think he has more pro potential than Brian Brohm. Mike Hartline may very well be a successful quarterback at UK, but I think it's likely he'll make a mistake or two that will be very costly in the opener.
Both teams have solid running games, I see it as a wash. Same goes for the offensive lines. UK may have a slight edge at wide receiver.
It seems like a lot of people are touting Kentucky's defense. I think they've got plenty of talent, but they were pretty awful last year as far as giving up points and yards. They'll be better this season. UofL's defense has nowhere to go but up. I don't think either defense has a decided edge.
So in the end, I see it....
Louisville 28, Kentucky 27
