| FORD UPDATE: Both Louisville Plants Affected by Shift to Smaller Cars »
It's looking more and more likely that Ford's announcement this Thursday of "changes to the overall plan" will include changes to Louisville's two Ford plants. The New York Times is reporting that as Ford transforms some truck plants into car plants, production of the Expedition and Navigator will move "to a Kentucky plant," which in all probability is the Kentucky Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane. It appears that Ford is consolidating much of its truck operations to KTP. From the New York Times Monday night: "The plans will begin to take effect later this year when production of the Expedition and Navigator is moved from the Michigan Truck plant to another factory in Kentucky." Though the Times does not spell out what new vehicle will replace the Explorer at the Louisville Assembly Plant, it has been considered an "open secret" that Ford will produce a From the Times report: "Ford is expected to announce that it will convert three of its North American assembly plants from trucks to cars, according to people familiar with the plans." 2 CommentsLeave a comment |
