Far Away From Home

When I heard Miranda Goranflo was lonely I couldn't help but feel sorry for her, stuck in a hospital for 7 weeks in a foreign country where she doesn't speak the language. On top of all that she's dealing with the emotions that go with watching her five year old daughter Hailey fight for her life.

Over the nine days she's been there Miranda has met people from all over the world, Australia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Greece and Canada. At first I though how unfortunate it was that they are all there for the same reason. To fight a fatal disease of their young children but then I watched the video diary from Miranda.

These other people are her support system. They are the only ones that can understand fully what Miranda is going through because they too are going through the same procedures, treatments, emotions and the greatest fear of all, the loss of their child.

I was happy to hear that Miranda got a chance to leave the hospital with her new found friends and visit the Forbidden City. She said it was one of the most amazing things she's ever seen. It was a break if only for a few hours to escape into a world of relief.

If you get chance check out all of Miranda's video blogs, they're short and I think they really give you a good idea of what she and Hailey are going through as well as what it's been like living in China.
