When something is different we often find ourselves staring. We can't help it. It's human nature. That is the way I felt about a story we ran. The event we were covering was certainly news. It is different and it captures people's attention. But many people don't quite know what to make of it. And that got me wondering... A popular evangelist made a stop in Louisville at Evangel World Prayer Center. His name is Todd Bentley. You may have heard of him. The man of God is covered in tattoos and doesn't look like your Grandma's pastor. He is energetic, loud and some people say he has the power to heal. In our story this evening we showed a man who started doing squat thrusts after being in a wheelchair for years. I don't know if he credits Bentley for his sudden improvement or God. Some of the most dramatic scenes at Bentley's events are people shaking and convulsing on the floor or even fainting. Are they caught up in the moment or is something truly happening to them? As the story played on, we all watched in silence. Even hours after I first saw the story, I still don't know what to make of it. If you believe in God, then couldn't the Lord use a man to perform miracles as the Bible said He did? What do you think? |
