As Darren Pickerill's doctors wait for his fever to subside for an important surgery, Jeffersontown Police Chief Rick Sanders had two pieces of news for me today (July 23, 2007) ...Interning in a newsroom is a unique experience, to say the least. I was told by a WHAS reporter on my first day, "the internship is what YOU make it". Another said, "if you want to be a reporter...you need to just tell them you're going to report...DON'T be shy." It didn't take long to figure out what they wanted me to realize. ...WHAS11 requires reporters to submit weekly reports on what stories we have covered, their length, in which newscasts they have aired and in what category they belong (i.e. crime, education, recreation).
