October 2006 ArchivesMy first month in Louisville has been a tremendous experience. In just a short period of time I have learned just a little bit about what makes this such a great city. People here take pride in where they live, and they want to show it off to anyone who visits. ...What if we held an election and no one showed up to staff the polls? There you'd be with your photo I.D. ready to do your civic duty and on one would be there to hand you the paper ballot. No man, no woman, no Democrat, no Republican would be there to find your name or take your ballot stub. This isn't a doomsday prediction of what our democracy could become it's a reality the Jefferson County clerk's office is fighting right ... How many parents reading this can say, "Yes, 100% of the time I know what my child is doing on the internet.." ? I for one, can't say that . |
