Transcript In -- Appeals Process Begins

9:43 AM Tue, Jun 05, 2007 |
Travis Kircher

Mary Kennedy, the court reporter for the Warrick County Superior Court #2 in Boonville, Indiana, submitted the transcript of the second David Camm murder trial late yesterday afternoon.

By filing the transcript before the end of the business day yesterday, Kennedy effectively avoids potential legal charges. The Indiana Supreme Court granted her three extensions to file the transcript of the two-month trial, which was expected to weigh in at roughly 10,000 pages.

In the Indiana Supreme Court's last order, issued Friday, the court said that if Kennedy failed to meet yesterday's deadline, she would "be ordered to appear before this court in person to show cause why she should not be held in contempt."

The transcript was completed at the last minute. As of 4:00 yesterday afternoon, it had yet to be filed. Kennedy was able to meet the deadline because the filing office was open late yesterday due to traffic court.

Now that the transcript has been filed, the clock begins ticking again -- this time for the defense team. Starting today, Camm's attorneys have 30 days (until July 5) to file the official brief outlining their arguments for appeal.

Katharine Liell, Camm's lead defense attorney, this morning indicated that she would likely ask for a 30-60 day extension for this deadline. This request is likely to come 10-15 days prior to the July 5 deadline.

Rich, the point is not that no one could kill is wife and kids it is that there is no evidences against camm.Prosecution are trying to built some with lies. The main point is that Camm didn't have no time to do it,15 minutes is not long an off to drive back and forth, kill is familly and get that meeting with Boney. My main concern are that evidences were ignore from the beginning, such as the physical evidences from Boney. Now, the most important evidences were over looked, why?The only reason I came up with,is that Faith knew Boney for years,he even attended is wedding...since the first time I heard about these evidences being ignore I was like WHAT?WHY? And than I read about this and so far that's the only reason I saw.The second thing that caught my attention was that blood scientist who was threaten by Faith,Scamahor,if she couldn't testify some DNA of Camm was found on the shirt ,Faith would have her fire for obstructing justice, how many testimony were arrange by Faith now???I also read The Renn testimony Feb.13,well notthing ,notthing they said leads us to believe that things were going wrong between David and Kim,just like David mentioned..I felt that since they were very hurt ,it was easy for Faith to convainced them that their son in law was involved,I have read that in many cases where the victims familly get played by the prosecution...Somebody pointed out that the same day of the murder Brad was taken to the hospital for allergie shots, why if Jill had been complaining of pain didn't they have her check?I have to agree. As a mother of little one myself it would be the first thing i would do.In addition,Whitney Dave's daughter from his previous mariage was asked by the state if he had molested her and she said, her dad never did.Why when they didn't allow the molestation to be heard in court ,they didn't mention that.It seems that the more I read about this story I find things very wrong about this case ,I can't imagine how the famillies (Renn and Lockhart)feels about all this because as an outsider I feel very frustrated. If that investigation had been run the way it should had been ,I am sure things would have been different...I wonder if a petition could be started on line stating everything wrong, and than presented to the supreme court...I don't know anything about laws but maybe someone knows if it's possible.

One comment. A reason was given that David Camm could not have done it, was that no one could murder their family and then while crying call the police. Camm, a police officer, would know that the best way to throw off suspicion would be to do just that. Camm, if he did it, would have to be a cold blooded killer and could accomplish all of those things with ease. Leave the ball game for a little while (rest, drink, whatever) go kill the family, return to the game, go home find the family dead and call the police. All the while knowing how he should act. One other thing, 48 hours does not always present the facts in their entirity, so conclusions should never be drawn from this telecast as they are only concerned with ratings and presenting a juicy story.

Is there any chances David will be release this year?My familly keeps praying for his.

I am glad to be Canadian ,when I see cases like that.I like to think that David would have been found innocent if his trial stood over here...This is probably why our crime rates is lower here than in U.S.A, we put the real killers behind bars...Free the guy and give Boney what he deserves!

David Camm ,already spend too much time in jail. I too hope he gets great compensation for what happened to him.I really don't understand how anyone would believe Boney's stories, notthing he said made sense. David has 11 alibi, he was with 11 guys playing basketball ,are they trying to say that all these guys have no moral...First ,Boney says he wasn't at the crime scene, then when his print was found he had no choice to admit he was there, so he changes his story. He said he was outside the garage ,has anybody ask him what he was doing there???If he went to deliver the gun ,what happened??? David told him to wait a few minutes outside...Come on!!!So, if I understand, David left the basketball game, killed his familly ,got this encounter with Boney running around all pumped up with adrenalin, surely pouring sweat, within 15 minutes and than hurried at the gym to finish his game and nobody, NOBODY seen anything out of the ordinary .The prosecution must be crazy...In addition, the foot fetish men(Boney), stopped while running after David because he tripped over Kim's shoes and arranged them neattly on top of the Bronco!!!Some judge somewhere needs to do something to seek justice in this case!!! This poor guy just seen his kids and his wife assassinated,he is probably haunted by these memories, let the guy go and grieve...Good remark from Mark about ,David shouldn't have any problems to unjam a gun...

Heres my problem with this case. For one...are you going to tell me a guy can run out of a gym and kill his family...then return...and have nobody notice anything out of the ordinary? Well he must have been good...really good. Secondly....the murder weapon was never found....and im pretty sure the deffense was able to raise enough reasonable doubt to get him a not guilty in that court room. This was BS from the beginning and I truely believe they just wanted to pin this on someone regardless of what legal corners they had to cut.

David got hosed. Total BS. How could they have not tested the boney sweatshirt. You dont think the prosecution in the first case didnt know who it belonged to. The shoes, fingerprints. Come on. Show me anyone else who murders their family and cries their eyes out, runs and calls the police. David p****** someone off when he left the police force. Bottom line he is innocent. Scary. This could happen to you. And to the Ren family.. How can you think that David is still guilty? I greive in your loss. But come on already.

I wonder if the Prosecutor will be disbarred like Nifong for wasting a poor man's life and so much taxpayer dollars?

i find it particularly disturbing that the prosecutors seemed to use the moral evidence against him and made all kinds of improper statements to the jury to get them to convict him for being an adulterer...there was absolutely no proof that he molested his kids...they used that against him too...the supreme court of indiana told them not to do that in the 2nd trial, then they did it anyway...both sets of prosecutors were a disgrace...the expert testimony was inconclusive...the whole case is scary...bonet was the clear criminal...camm could have done it maybe...but thats just suspicion

Some things that was not mentioned in the 48Hour story.

1. Why would Kim take Jill to school and dance class if she has injuries? Did Dr. Corey think about this? This is just plain common sense. Her injuries happened when she was murdered.
2. How could David Camm time his leaving the gym and arrive at his home at the precise time his family pulled in the driveway?
3. The fact that Stan Faith had known and was friends with Charles Boney's mother Barbara Boney since the 80's.
On a tv news interview he denied ever knowing Charles Boney.
4. When Charles Boney got out of prison he moved in with his mother who lived 2 doors from Leland Camm the pastor of their church. Kim was the church secretary.
5. A GPS devise was placed on Charles Boney's car and he was tracked to the cemetary where the family is buried.
6. Charles Boney's cousin det. Morrison talked to him and advised him that the best thing for him to say was that he was a witness.

David Camm is in prison because of his infidelity.

Mark said:

Just watched 48 Hrs...some very disturbing things that make me believe he isnt guilty...first, Boney said that Camm fired the weapon, then it jammed when Camm was trying to kill him (isn't Camm, as prosecutors say, an advanced expert in firearms due to his law enforcement career?). Wouldnt Camm of all people know how to quickly clear a jam in a firearm and ready the weapon to fire again??? second, Boneys girlfriend stated that she saw Boney with the firearm. How in the hell is Boney going to take a firearm away from an advanced expert in firearms and tactics??? There is no way in the world Boney is going to take a gun away from that guy... Boney said he chased Camm into the house, well why in the hell would you run after a guy that was supposedly trying to shoot you??? third, if I walked in to my house and saw my wife and kids in that same situation, the first thing I would do would be to grab them in grief...so much for the blood stains. Granted I am no law expert and have only heard what was stated in the 48 hours special, I even thought Camm was guilty at first, before I heard the whole story, but this is a classic case of railroading a person into prison if I have ever seen one. Some judge needs to really step up and hold the prosecution to the statement "Beyond a reasonable doubt"... just my 2 disgusted cents.

High impact blood spatter? Where did they find this guy? Hell for what they paid the prosecution expert who testified on the blood spatter patterns I could have come up with something so much better.

On the blood spatter note, If David had left the ball game to meet "his accomplice", driven home and killed his family (in 15 min give or take) He then what, changed into a nearly identical set of clothes, went back to the game, came home and changed back into the close he was wearing when the police arrived. I guess he then reached over his daughter and got just a few blood drops on his shirt, in a car soaked with it.

Wake up Mr. Prosecutor...
Pay me for my creativity?

Hello from Illinois. I just watched 48 hours. Let David Camm gooooo!!! or get some evidence that proves his guilt. I I hope he gets some money for having his life taken away when the supreme court rules..

I wonder if they actually turned in 10,000 paper pages or is the transcript on a CD. That would make for an easy link to post on here.

There are a few bit of testimony I am curious about.
