I have been riding bicycles for 35 years. During those years, I have used my bicycle to run errands. Wow, I was being green before being green was cool.
Being green is the new “buzz word”, but you know what? Being green can save you some green. In the coming months, I’ll write about ways to save energy heating your home, save water and use less resources in your yard, get more miles to the gallon in your car and how you can save money in the process.
I will do the research and give you a tip or two each week that will save time and/or money.
Check your cars tire pressure each month. Having the proper air pressure in your tires will get you an additional three percent in your fuel mileage, which works out to $0.10/gallon savings. Not too bad of a savings for something you should do anyway. In addition to fuel savings, your tires will last longer when they are operated at the proper air pressure. I have also heard that your car will handle like a Ferrari. I don’t know for sure. It’s something I heard.
Hey! While we’re on the subject of the car and how to save money, another place to save is with the air filter. If you replace your car’s clogged or dirty air filter, you will get around a four percent fuel milage increase or up to a $0.30/gallon saving in fuel.
These are just a few of the things we’ll cover in Simply Green. I hope you will join me each week so we can learn together.
Remember the savings are real by being Simply Green.
