Albemarle native Kellie Pickler will soon be able to add another first to her new career after appearing on the fifth season of ‘American Idol’.

President Bush will meet Kellie, Idol winner Taylor Hicks and the other top 10 finalists in the Oval Office Friday afternoon. 6NEWS will have a crew there, so be sure to log onto WCNC.com and watch 6NEWS for complete coverage.

This will be the first time Idol contestants have been invited to meet the president.

Kellie Pickler co-hosted ‘The View’ earlier this month and announced on the show that she recently signed a record contract with Sony BMG in Nashville. Kellie said she plans to stick to her roots and sing country.

The Idols are currently traveling across the country for “American Idols Live”. They’re in DC for a performance at the Verizon Center in Friday night and they’ll be at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte August 1.

I wonder who will have the higher IQ? Bush or Kellie?

In response to above comment: I have to wonder about the IQ of someone who would ask such a question. You must be trying to be funny, but instead you show great disrespect for the president by comparing him to a 19-year old girl.

Well it sure isn't John Hammond. Now back to bussing tables.

My vote goes to Kellie. She can say three sentences without looking down at a card ten times.

Thank goodness she will not have to worry about Slick Willie asking her to spend the night.

Who could possibly top the first comment? Funny.

Kellie rocks! Enough said. :)

If Pickler doesn't come out of the oval office then we should begin to worry.

Reply to G.A.D.:

I voted for him two times and I really think the disrespect comes by not listening to what Americans really want out of their government. Oh, and I was being funny and I think she just may beat him out.

Best Wishes and go Kellie. I love you.

I had the same initial thought... and figured the meeting would give the late-night hosts ample material!

Maybe some of Kellie's positive energy and good kharma will rub off on GW!

At least Kellie is cuter the the president but I wonder about the IQ thing myself. It was a good laugh. You gotta laugh at the President he is good material for the late night guys.

Wonderful! Maybe now, Bush can give Kellie some presidential power, and for ONCE we can get a feel of what it would be like to not be run by such an ethnocentric and culturally ignorant government. She may be a bit ditsy, but I'm sure she can run our country much better the he can..then again ANYONE would be able to run our country better than President Bush*

Rahma,

"ethnocentric" and "culturally ignorant government"? With big words like that, you must not be from West Virgina. FYI, Kellie was crowned Queen of the US last week.
