« Mike Redding | One of the three R's | Main | John Snyder | Newman and fame » Colleen Odegaard | Katie broke up with me!May 31, 2006
Posted by WCNC.com staff at May 31, 2006 10:54 AM CommentsI totally agree. I'm 32 years old and I have watched Katie for 15 years on the Today Show. I personally loved the goodbye show and thought NBC had a lot of class to do that. There is no reason for them to burn bridges with each other. It won't be the same in the mornings but maybe Katie Couric is right and it is time for a change. Posted by: ANGELA at May 31, 2006 11:35 AM Oh Colleen...thank heavens for you! I wasn't sure what I would do when Chris Justice went to the afternoon/evening news, but felt secure that you would still be there. And, of course, I'd always have Katie & Matt. That changed today! Katie is class, humor, and girl next door all rolled into one. Although I wish her luck in her upcoming endevour, I will miss her smile and playful banter with Matt each morning. All of the things about Katie that will make me miss her, are things I see in you Colleen, so please don't abandon me too! :-) Posted by: Michelle at May 31, 2006 12:12 PM FYI Colleen, I too feel a huge loss over Katie's leaving and the Today Show will never be the same. HOWEVER, I think we are lucky here in Charlotte to have you. You are very much like Ms. Couric -- warm, funny, compassionate, and a top notch interviewer who "tells it like it is." So, no matter what, until 8:00 am weekdays, I can still have someone of Katie's callibre to relate to. Posted by: Karen Shumaker at June 1, 2006 12:21 PM yeah she does seem like a down to earth lady and thats what i like..warm,kind, .....u think shes thoughtful too? wheres mine? but i bet shes laughing all the way to bank of america too!! u think? Posted by: Randy at June 1, 2006 5:11 PM Colleen, you are wonderful and our very own Katie in Charlotte. You are so professional, compassionate and excellent at your job. I can always count on you to begin my day with laughter! Posted by: Lisa at June 2, 2006 8:26 AM I remember watching that segment back when it originally aired... and then you [Colleen] were talking about how Katie kept calling you "Charleen" because she was mixing up Colleen and Charlotte haha. She seemend really sweet.. and I loved that interview. It'll be different in the mornings now for all of us. And I agree w/ what Lisa said.. you are our very own Katie. Posted by: Kay at June 2, 2006 12:21 PM Katie Couric has always seemed to be TOO Perky for me. I could tolerate her for a small amount of time, IF she did not smile with that big, big mouth of hers. She reminds me of all those car commercial blond bimbos. Posted by: patti at June 4, 2006 12:01 PM i cant beleive you people worship a "NEWS" person who is so partison. they would not let her(katie) make up news at NBC about president Bush but they will at CBS. Posted by: blake steen at June 4, 2006 8:41 PM Because I leave for work about 6:30 a.m., I DVR/d Katie's last morning. Can you imagine how upset I am that my husband deleted the program after he watched it?????????!!!!!! I was upset beyond words when I tried to watch it and discovered it gone forever!! Posted by: Inez at June 5, 2006 10:09 AM Get a life people! She is just a news anchor. You would think she found a cure for cancer the way people are carrying on about her.... Posted by: not a anchor hater at June 5, 2006 3:12 PM I, too, feel a great loss with Katie Couric's move to CBS. She has started out my mornings with great poise, beauty, humor, tears, and information. I did not watch the "last" morning. I knew it would be much for the day.
