Instead of talking about one of the most exciting championship games we've watched in years, today's buzz is about Williams showing support to a school that made his career. If it wasn't for the success Williams had at Kansas, he might not be coaching at UNC today. The least he could do is show a little support on the school's biggest night in 20 years. However, people are actually questioning his allegiance, wondering if deep inside Williams feels bad about leaving Kansas. Some see it as a huge conflict of interest. Others say the loss was easier for him to swallow because it was Kansas. And one went so far as to say Williams threw the game so Kansas could have a chance at a championship!

I do believe it was a slap in the face for CAROLINA fans. I am a HUGE fan of the TARHEELS and it angered and disappointed me to watch my coach show support for another team and wear another teams logo. I was so hurt by this. I would never wear another teams logo or pull for another team. I am true CAROLINA BLUE fan and always will be!!! GO HEELS!!
Roy has always said that Carolina is his #1 team and Kansas is his #2 team. And when he was at Kansas he said that Kansas was his #1 team and Carolina was his #2. Why is this such a big deal? I am a Tarheel fan myself. My blood runs Carolina Blue. But I was proud to see Roy sitting there supporting the Jayhawks. It proves what a stand up guys he really is. What a great example of true sportsmanship he displayed!
Basic question -- where was Roy's coaching prowess when we were down 40 to 12? Why not try at least one time out to try to slow KS momentum? I've watched him coach many times, and he was NOT coaching in a normal manner on Saturday. And then he sits in the championship game in a Jayhawk shirt? Poor taste and definitely salt in a fresh wound!
I have always been a Tarheel Fan. In my opinion, coach Roy Williams should be fired for wearing a jayhawks emblem on his shirt. I have never seen this done by another coach of any sport. He is a total disgrace to the team. Saturday, while Carolina was falling way behind, Roy Williams never got up and called a timeout. I guess we know why now. If I was one of his players, I would demand an apology. What a jerk!!!!
Let me get this straight, Donna: here's Roy Williams sitting in a primo seat at the championship game with a big ol' Jayhawk emblazoned his chest, while his team is still feeling the sting of their loss (after having been told by Williams immediately after the game that they "had a good season but did not achieve their goal")-- and you call that "true sportsmanship???" Give me a break! I'll bet Ol' Roy was out celebrating with the Jayhawks after the game as well, taking credit for the very small role he may have played in putting that team together. That is not being a good sport; that is being a fair-weather friend and bandwagon jumper. Williams is a cad and he should be ashamed of himself.
Although I would not expect Roy to pull AGAINST the Jayhawks; but as a Carolina fan, I did feel betrayed that he would sit there displaying a Jayhawk sticker. He should have had enough respect for UNC and his players to have, at least, worn a Carolina shirt. The Tarheel players had a wonderful season and I am proud of them. The players and coaches had an off night on the wrong night. My congratulations to them on an ACC winning season and ACC championship and my sincerest congratulations to Tyler Hansbrough on all his achievements and honors! I hope to see them all back next season to try again for a national championship. GO HEELS!
I love the asimile that you made to the ex-girlfriend. By the look of Roy's face in the picture, that's exactly how he felt.
This is blasphemy...This is madness...This is North Carolina. Do you actually expect me to not feel some type of way about this. I almost take the Kansas logo personally. It kind of hurts my feelings to see this as well. Roy...get over it, Kansas is not your team anymore. Being a die hard UNC fan which I have been for the whole of my life, I do not at all feel that it was appropriate to wear that shirt. Of course, I'm a bit biased. If you miss Kansas so badly why don't you and your dog Toto go back. My opinion has been heard.
I think people need to grow up and not worry about the past. It is clear that we did not come to play and Kansas did. Yes that is the coaches responsibility to get the team ready. We were due a let down it just happened to be at the final four. Memphis could have fouled in the last ten seconds of the championship and sent Kansas to the line to shoot two and none of this would have been discussed because Memphis would have been your national champions instead of Kansas. Roy is one of the premier coaches in the country and I think he could pull for whomever he wants after we got put out. Yes I am a Tarheel fan with a little sense.
That was very distasteful Roy!!! I am a HUGE Duke fan, but I can't believe that he did that.. your team just lost to them and you get on national tv and wear their logo..how stupid can you be...well with the Kansas coach maybe going to OK state, maybe Roy will be going back...
GO DUKE!!!!!
Personally, at first I wasn't bothered by Roy wearing a KS sticker since I know he was there for 'x' years and appreciates the program. Then, as I began putting two and two...and three...together, seven was coming into view. At about every level of basketball, a coach calls a timeout when things are getting out of hand. Roy didn't do this, and I began to wonder why. He also didn't have the intensity he has, say, when playing Duke. Is the Final Four not a bigger goal than DUKE? KS was ahead by such a huge margin, NC made a good run to come back (to make a 'throw' not look so obvious?), and then they lost by 18. Then, he wears a KS sticker? I would NEVER have done that. Clap & cheer for KS? Certainly. One can show good sportsmanship without wearing "fan" stuff. Altogether, it made me suspect a 'throw.'
i look at this way.carolina was sorry from the get go. they thought they had it in the bag.boy were they wrong.kansas came to play and play they did.it would not surprise me if roy leaves carolina.he really needs to.those carolina players were all swollen up due to the media saying how good they were.well guess what?they weren't.so in the end i suggest all the carolina fans need to suck it up and deal with the loss.and if roy wants to wear a kansas logo shirt, he can.it's called freedom of choice that's what make america so great!!
