I cheated
Okay so here's the deal, my friend Melinda loves her hair stylist. She should she has great hair. I know. Makes me sick. I tried to cut my hair short like that one time and I looked like, well, let's just say I wasn't reeling in the men during that period of my life.
Her hair stylist Richard Graham with J. Graham & Co. needed a hair model for his show at 96.1's Beauty and the Beat event at Grand Central in uptown Friday. Yes the club. Immediately I thought about my own hair stylist who I absolutely LOVE, but all I had to hear was I would get a free haircut and I was in.
I mean seriously, everytime I write that check to the hair salon, I want to throw up. So I was in. I am now a cheater, (the horror..having someone else cut my hair!!!) but I was in. I had to go to his salon on Thursday for my consultation and color. (He can't be coloring the hair in the middle of the bar people).
Richard is the real deal and I was a bit nervous for my consultation. So I actually did my hair before I went in there (umm..see photo slideshow). I know, I know....but you know, you don't want him to think you're some schlep who doesn't do anything with their hair. He told me I had too much weight on the top of my head. I had to laugh, here I am doing all these squats in Sgt. Roy's sculpt class and I should've been paying attention to my head. It's a good thing I didn't work out this week.
Richard colored my hair and completely brightened up my face. I had highlights, but they weren't doing anything for my face, so voila...there you go. I'm now on the blonde ambition bandwagon. The event on Friday was a great mix of people and a great idea. I mean where else can you get a hair cut and a massage in the middle of a bar!
Richard cut my hair and there was this big spotlight on me. Well I think it was really a light so he could see...but you know LIVE IN THE MOMENT! Anyway, he went to town on my hair in the middle of the bar...and although I didn't have some big drastic change like I'm now sporting a mohawk or a rat tail, I really love the cut. I can totally tell a big difference in the way it feels. Light but full of volume...you know like the hair commercials.
So ladies if you're like me and have that one length fine mop on top of your head, have your stylist lighten up the top. Cut off the weight and draw the attention to the eyes, like Richard says.
I even got a couple thumbs up from the bouncers...I think I may have all my future haircuts in the middle of a bar. Maybe I should suggest that to my stylist? Of course, then I'll have to admit I cheated....
Here's to good hair!
Great blog and great "do". I loved it.
I love it.
