Let me start this by saying, I love a scary movie. Since childhood, I've been intrigued by ghost stories and my grandmother could tell some real zingers. I'm not saying I believed everything I heard, but I loved hearing them nonetheless.

So, fast forward 20 or so years, and imagine my reaction when WCNC Special Projects Producer Rachel Clapp told me about our upcoming assignment. We were going on a search with the Charlotte Area Paranormal Society, CAPS for short. I thought, "Hunting spirits? Oh, this is going to be fun."

On a Thursday night, we met the group. They all have day jobs, of course, and ghost hunting is only an after hours hobby. By day, the leader, Tina McSwain, is a chief estimator for a heating and air company. She, like the rest of the group, says paranormal experiences throughout her life led her to this point.

Our first stop that night was an abandoned cemetery. I don't want to give too much away here, but I can tell you we saw something that caused great debate in our newsroom. CAPS members take pictures during a paranormal investigation, and something in one of those pictures is, I'll admit, a little strange.

The Lake Todd Fish Camp in Cabarrus County was our second and final stop, and this place has a very colorful past. The owners say it used to be brothel, with illegal liquor sales and prostitution. The current owner says there were also murders at the location, one in the very spot where I stood while interviewing him.

A little later, at the restaurant, the night took at comical turn for our crew.

The lights were out, so McSwain and the others could be in full on spirit hunting mode. To try and wrestle something up, they played music from the time period the brothel would've been open. It was really creepy. At that very moment, if you looked at me and my producer Rachel, you would've thought Freddy Krueger himself was in the room. We were literally arm in arm, hugged up at a table. To say we had chills is an understatement. We were like those people in a horror film, right before the attack.

So, to say the least, the night was, uh, interesting. Want to see why? Watch Monday night at 6 and 11. Also, let us know what you think about the paranormal. Do ghosts and spirits exist? And have you seen them? Leave your comments below.

When I was growing up I lived next to a house that used to be a Civil War Hospital/Jail. The garage still had bars on the windows from the jail. Anyway I was visiting my friend one day and was going up the stairs to her room. I was scared out of my wits when someone sneezed right behind me. I got even more scared when I looked back expecting to see my friend and saw no one.

yes there are things out there I believe. Been to a grave yard that had me so spooked and uneasy that I will not go back to. I believe some ghost hunters came to a home across the street from me in Ellenboro. was this your team? I am interested in knowing what if anything came from the night. I have known two familys that lived in that home and only one claims to have heard voices and strang noises up stairs. Please let me know how I can find out more. Thank you D. Street

I'm an investigator with the group, unfortunately I was not present during filming, but you guys did a great job showing the general public what we do and how we do it. Please feel free to join us again in the future!

Bobby one of the ladies in the video is my sister, while I dont actually believe in ghosts or spirits I have enough sense not to go looking for them, unlike my crazy sister. Believe me she is the only one in our family that I know of that has enough nerve to go out hunting for some spirits to rile up, ha ha. I will leave the ghost hunting to you and their group. Happy hunting or should I say haunting.
