Everybody survive the heat wave okay? I did very well. Spent a lot of time under the fans reading and thinking about my next topic for the blog.
Has anyone tried any of the suggestions I wrote about? Tell me about it in the comment section of this blog. I’d love to hear from you. If you have any ideas, feel free to share them with me. I would like this to be an open dialogue between like minded folks.
Being green is about more than saving money. It’s about saving our natural resources, and reducing pollution.
Is anyone riding their bicycle to work or to run errands? Do we have any carpool mem-bers?
How do you save money doing something green?
Ok, at the beginning of these blogs there is the subtitle, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. I’d like to talk a little about reuse.
There are many way to reuse something. I am fairly new to the reuse concept, so here are some tips my friend Michelle, who you’ve met in the 24 Hours of Booty blog I wrote, told me about.
If you buy potato salad or tuna salad at the store, you can reuse the container it came in. They can be used to store leftover food or use them to bring your food to work or school. Used store containers are just like some of the containers I have bought for the same purpose, so save money and some oil and reuse containers that come from the store.
I have also started to reuse my sandwich bags. Why not? They are just like a plastic container, oh wait, they are plastic containers. I wash them out and place them over something (a soda can or bottle that I am recycling) so air can dry the inside.
I have reduced the amount of paper towels I use by reusing a T-shirt and cutting it into large pieces. Instead of reaching for a paper towel to clean something up, I reach for the cloth square.
So in a sense, you are recycling and reusing at the same time.
So until next time, stay green.
Dear Tony: My name is Gary LeBlanc. I live in Mount Holly. I have been hearing so much about the water shortage, and the low water table. May I make a sugestion? Why don't our officals change the codes to have every water heater, have a pressure pump on it. We wasit so much water waiting for it to get hot. A pump or something like that would push the hot water to the tap immediatly. We could save millions of gallons of water each day.
Thank you for listening
Sincerely Gary LeBlanc
