I believe it's an act, but whether it is or not, her stereotyped persona is an embarrassment to all Southerners.

I find her funny- It may be an act- but so what!?! She isnt an embarassament to all Southerners! I stayed to watched the game that night and I dont even like the Cubs. She seems like a sweet girl and maybe a bit flakey at times- but hey doesnt EVERYONE do something flakey at some point?? She is just doing more than others and we are all watching her and enjoying.

Oh, come on. She's just a sweet girl trying to be real nice to everybody. Why make it such a big deal, she was probably nervous, like all of us would be.

I think she is just one of those people who hasn't experienced much. I think what you see is what you get it.

Hate to tell you but it is not an act. She is a what-you-see-is-what-get-kind-of-girl. It is a relief to see a young girl who is like that today, that only shows the good up-bringing she has had. Believe me she is not an embarrassment to Albemarle. We LOVE her just the way she is.

I think some of it is an act and some is real. But, in no way is she an embarrassment to ALL Southerners like someone else said.

I think she is as cute as a speckled puppy. She reminds me of another blond bombshell, Luanne Poovey. If you do not know who that is I just can't help you.

As for Kellie, why try to pick on someone that is able to live the dream, whether she makes it as a big time star or not let her have her moment. I do believe that she is very sweet and what you see is what you get.

WOW -- I am from Charlotte and we love Kelli! So what if she is dingy! She is a doll and you people need to get a life. I know people that have known her all her life and what you see is what you get. I think wherever there are critics there is a bit of jealosy!! Give some credit where credit is due!! Kelli is living proof that dreams come true :) The world needs more of that !

I think she's what you see is what you get. She's very candid about her life. She was probably nervous. She's not an embarrassment on Southerners but the Clinton's are. They who act like white trash. People look at them different because they hold power but our litte Pick is just Quirky..And that my friends is entertainment!

NO what you have here is a girl whom is so humble not very well traveled , loves people ,loves life one that at best has been hard on her. remember she had no mother to assist ,just a loving grandfather who undoubtably taught her one of the greatest things on earth , BE YOURSELF those who critize are jealous of some thing you have .I would be proud to call her my daughter !she will grow and learn give her a chance. undoubtably something your parents missed

Sorry folks,but have you ever met real people from Ablemarle. They are real people who have a lot of small town values. There is not a whole lot to do there,and I am sure she missed out on a lot of things that "big city"people take for granted. I think that what you see with Kellie is what you get,good,bad or in diffrent. Until you have walked in her shoes do not judge and be happy for her. She has come a long way for a small town girl.

Who cares if its an act or not? She is playing the game and winning big time! Most of the negative comments are from folks who dont have the guts or ability to accomplish what she has.

I don't think it is an act. I won a contest for a trip to the Daytona 500 from KAT Country and a chance to meet Kellie at a private concert. She seemed very genuine to me. She answered all of the group's questions pleasantly and honestly. She told several stories about growing up in Albemarle. I just got the impression that she was a very open person and that she is not ashamed of who she is.

If Kelly Picker is what you call an embarrasment to Southerners, you apparently don't get out much.She's sweet, adorable and just so down to earth. If you want to know what embarrasses Southerners, take a look at how some of the youth dress and act, look at gangs, look at the Clintons. Now THOSE are embarrasments. Leave the girl alone and get over your jealousy of her success.

I think Kellie is great. So what if she's a little out there. I think that's what most people like best about her. Small town values are not anything to be ashamed of. Life is so fast paced these days....it's refreshing just to watch Kellie and wonder what'll come out of her mouth next.

I'm very happy with the success that little Ms Pickler has had. She may be acting a bit but I believe much of her personality is just Kellie Pickler being herself. I would challenge any young girl, fresh out of high school, with a Dad in and out of prison and a Mom missing in action to appear in front of a world audience and do one half as well as she has. Good luck young lady, keep your head on straight. The south has a number of things to be ashamed of, you're not one of them and don't worry about the calamari thing, the stuff is overrated anyway.

Some people (mostly cynical, hypercritical Northerners) just cannot believe that there are girls (and boys) as unpretentious, charming, and unaffected as Kellie. Never having known real people with real personalities, they can't comprehend people like her.

Kelly Pickler does the South and America proud.

Besides, she dresses more modestly than the middle school skanks we see at the mall!

Teresa, the "its" in "Its correctly spelled Embarrassment" should have an apostrophe because it means "it is." It's always a good policy not to self-righteously correct others as a form of punishment or humiliation.

I am from Albemarle, born and raised. I am proud to be a small town guy, but unlike a lot of the people from my hometown I have worked my way out. The post above is right, there is nothing to do there in terms of economy or education. . . that's why I worked my way to prestigious universities and a career.

Kellie, personally, is an embarrassment to me. I am proud of her, she has put Albemarle on the map . . . but when it comes to this much national attention, enough is enough. Please, Kellie stop what you're doing. You ruined the 7th inning stretch for a lot of baseball fans, don't brand our hometown by your ditzy act. American Idol's not the only way to get out of Stanly County.

While I must give her credit for riding her newfound celebrity status to the height of financial success I can honestly say her act is growing tired.

I understnd there is a sitcom in the works. Indications are she will play a small town southern girl. If the intent of the show is to make fun of the South, I will have no part of it. I will boycott any sponsor and write the network asking for the show to be removed.

Southerns are the last group of Americans that you can make fun of. I would have no proble with the show if others were not so sensitive. Could you have a show making fun of blacks? Italians? Jews? Certainly not. I would hope that she has better judgment and will NOT allow herself to be placed in this uncomfortable situation.

OK it's pretty easy to see that Kellie is just a goofy girl. It's no big deal. But what do the Clintons have to do with the question? They're not even southern. Geeze!

Hey, if it's worked for Paris, why can't it work for Kellie? Paris parlayed her dumb-as-a-rock act into a TV show and who knows how much exposure. Maybe lightning will strike twice.

I think it's an act, but it grew out of her real personality. On AI, she stumbled onto something that worked for her, and she just accentuates it to give people what they want. It's a pretty smart thing to do if you want to be famous. Incidentally, the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem is the home of the Fighting Pickles. So maybe she'll get her wish one day--if they ever get any sports teams... ;)

After reading some of these comments, listening to Kellies interviews, keeping in mind what she has had to overcome in her short life, I have come to the conclusion that this girl has had a lot of growing up to do and has done a fine job! She sounds mature for her age...unlike most I know and read in our hometown newspaper. All they seem to do is get in trouble but Kellie has turned her life to the positive end and is making something of herself. Walk a mile in her shoes and see how far you get! I am an Albemarle native...born and raised. I didnt know her father, mother, grandparents, but seeing and hearing what she has accomplished, I would be darn proud to have her as my daughter anyday!

Kellie is the real deal. If you are Southern who is embasrassed with Kellie for being real, then I think you should go out more. For one thing, that negative outlook on things is embarrassing, Southern or not.

Enough is enough when it comes to Kelly Pickler. I, personally believe she is NOT as naive as everyone thinks she is. Furthermore, her singing is not that great nor is the "boob" job. Did it take the "boob" for her to get all the attention???? I just hope that WCNC will concentrate on other news that is IMPORTANT!!!!!!

Her singing is not that great? Is that why she stole the show at the CMA's and received a standing ovation from her peers and music fans that night while lame acts like Carrie Underwood didn't.

And someone would have to be a boob to think Kellie Pickler had a boob job, anyone who looks at the recent photos of her at the award shows can clearly see her boobs are the same size as they were on Idol, just watch her Fancy video over at youtube.com and you can see she always had boobs, just like the ones she has now. I guess some are too clueless to realize that girls boobs grow and shrink the same time their weight does. Either that or they spend way too much time reading the National Enquirer.

As far as I'm concerned anybody who has a problem with Kellie Pickler needs to get a sense of humor, she is a comedienne for crying out loud, do you people always go around trying to critique comments that comedians make?
