WCNC Weather

Today the "Where In the World" crew ended-up at a spot known for its beautiful 36 hole golf course and a first class spa with all the amenities.

We were at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, North Carolina; that's about a 45 to 60 minute trip from Charlotte...depending on traffic.

In the spa, you can take a swim, hunker down in a hot tub, get under an "indoor waterfall" or get one of those massages that just feels so good you need to recline for an hour two. You can do that; the Rock Barn Spa has "relaxation" rooms for that purpose. If you want more pampering, they have manicures and pedicures and hair styling and a sushi bar and sake' and their own brand of wine or just a big glass of ice cold mineral water.

I made sure to try as much as I could possibly do on the air. Hot tubbing was very nice and relaxing and with my crazy hours, I could've gone to sleep in that warm, mineral-filled tank of H2O. They have this indoor waterfall that you can stand under, that gently pelts you with warm water, and it's almost as as good as a professional massage. If you want one of those, the great staff at Rock Barn Spa has a whole menu of massages.

After the visit to the pool area, I had my first "facial". If you point a camera at me, I just may try anything on the air...as long as the law allows it! Otherwise, I probably would never sit down and have someone lather my face with a bowl of mud and top it off with some cucumber slices covering my eyes.

It actually wasn't too bad, although I shouldn't have tasted the mud, just because it "looked" like chocolate pudding. Let me just say that "looks aren’t everything" when it comes to massage mud. It's all about how it feels and what it does for your pores and skin tone and so on. I liked it so much, I did it twice...all for the camera, of course!

I've ridden horses a few times over the years, but never enough to feel totally confident...so I went to the Rock Barn Equestrian center and had a few quick lessons from Matt Fleming. He's an honest to goodness all American cowboy, a Texan who moved to the Hickory area to train horses and teach "real" horseback riding. I need a "few" more lessons. If you saw our broadcast this morning, you know why!!! At least I got the horse to go "in reverse".

By the way, tomorrow I'll find a totally different way to "reverse"!
