What really goes hand in hand with the upcoming holidays? Food, family, friends? Well, I guess, but I had another f-word in mind. Football baby.

I’m already capable of wasting an entire Saturday on the couch watching college ball, and my college doesn’t even have a big time program. But from now until the end of the Christmas holidays, it will seem like football is on every night of the week. Let’s just say Christmas has come early.

Well, Christmas also came early for the Carolina Traveler team a few weeks ago. Mike called me up with a story he had found. It’s straight forward and a storyteller’s gift from above. “Andy, there’s a high school kid playing football in Greenville, South Carolina… and he has no legs.”

You read it correctly. I can’t tease a story much better than that. A young man is on his freshman football team, playing with no legs. It’s legit. He’s not a gimmick or a charity case. He gets into the game because he earns his time.

How he got to this point in his life is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. And while it sounds like a great story, you really do have to see this one to fully appreciate it.

This story will be on our Carolina Traveler show the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The CT crew will be gone next week so I had to tell you to tune in for this one now. If you’re home for the holiday, give it a look. It will touch and inspire each member of your family in a different way. These types of stories will knock you down a peg or two, and really do help you give thanks for what you’ve been blessed with.

So that’s next Saturday, but you’re not off the hook for this week. We’ve got another great show this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. From the last Tea Plantation in the United States to going behind bars at a North Carolina Women’s Prison, we’ve got the Carolinas covered. That makes me want to watch and I already know how the stories play out.

Hope everybody has a good Thanksgiving week and if you get a chance, check out our show. At least set up the DVR. And anyone with a hi-def set, I’m open for any invites.
