Misc. Rambling 1: “Dinah won’t you blow, Dinah won’t you blow, Dinah won’t you blow your hor-or-orn!”

The Emmy nominations for our region were announced a week ago. Andy and I are nominated for a bunch… somewhere between 6 and 10, depending on how you look at it. You never know if you’ll win any. Though I think we’re on a five or six year win streak. And I say that in all humility. Not really. My head is as fat as a Macy’s parade balloon. I’m so full of myself if you pop my ego I’ll flutter around the room for 10 minutes.

Misc. Rambling 2: I’m worried about 2007, 2008, 2009…
The Carolina Panthers need to find the quarterback of the future yesterday. Jake plays hard, with heart and soul and you can’t ask for more passion. But he doesn’t play smart. Nuff said.

Misc. Rambling 3: What’s 20 dollars amongst friends?
Did you see this story? A South Carolina Gamecock football fan made a $20 bet with his buddy, a Clemson fan, on the game Saturday. South Carolina wins. The Clemson fan says he ain’t paying. The USC fan goes out to his car and grabs a gun. He shoots his buddy dead on the spot. 20 bucks? Did I mention they were friends? If there’s any justice in this world that USC fan will end up in prison with a 400 pound Clemson fan named Bubba as a cell mate.

Misc. Rambling 4: HDTV
If you’re shopping for an HDTV (High Definition Television) you have to educate yourself. I’m buying one because I couldn’t watch my own show in hi-def. We shoot in HD, edit in HD, broadcast the show in HD and I sit at home and watch on a regular definition television set. After watching the stories in the edit booth in high definition, it just sucks to go home when you know what it’s supposed to look like. Anyway, I decided to go with an LCD HD screen over Plasma HD (LCD sets last longer, and look better to me) and then Andy tells me about the next generation of HD televisions which will hit the market next year called SED. Even higher resolution! It has something to do with energizing protons between two thin sheets of glass. Great! Energized protons? What the? Sounds like Spock and Kirk stuff to me. LCD’s are getting really cheap and that’s my middle name. Discussion over.

Misc. Rambling 5: E-mail is my best and worst friend…
For those of you who have e-mailed in the last six months and never got a response I apologize. Somewhere along the way I got several hundred e-mails behind and never caught up. And at 30, 60, 90 days, not sure, my work e-mail system deletes the old stuff from my account. Bottom line, if you didn’t get a response you’re not going to. If it was important send me another and I’ll add you to my new list of 200 e-mails I haven’t responded to. I no type good. Cool beans? Cool beans.

Okay, I gotta get to work on the December show,

Mike Redding
