Let me just say that Paula Deen is one of my favorites. I’ve been to her restaurant in Savannah (the scallops changed my life).
I have her cookbooks. I watch her show, even her wedding special (don’t you just love the spray tanning scene).
When she agreed to do a segment with us for our tree lighting special set to air Nov. 22 on WCNC-TV, I politely demanded I be a part of it.
I’ll be honest. I was a bit nervous because I’ve met people I’d been a fan of before and let’s just say I am no longer a fan. This one time I worked on a shoot with an actress who was so awful, I can’t watch her in any movies to this day. I couldn’t even watch her on Dancing with the Stars. (Is that saying too much? Am I still a little bitter? I’m still in therapy).
But, Paula Deen was a delight. She was so nice and happy to do whatever we wanted. As a producer, you appreciate that so much. So often you have everything in place and you’re ready to go and then your “subject” wants to make it really difficult.
Not here. That’s why I’m now nominating myself as the President of the Paula Deen Fan Club (Colleen can be vice-president).
I am on my way to Savannah, just to eat at her restaurant again. I may just quit my job and become her assistant.
Eat Up Y’all! The Paula Deen cookbook is on the Christmas gift list. And you can win an autographed copy of her cookbook later this month on WCNC.com.
Be sure to watch Paula Deen in our Tree Lighting show November 22.
Always enjoy your writing. I always appreciate when my oldest daughter passes along your efforts. I think Paula is a hoot and those scallops sound wonderful. If you decide to quit that tv work consider the literary world.
I will look forward to that Tree Lighting show!
