How often do you open your e-mail to find a forward from a friend with a link to an incredible video clip? I’m betting it’s more often than not.
With help from web sites like YouTube and Break.com, more and more video is circulating the Internet.
I received a video clip this morning from a Charlotte City Council meeting Jan. 28, 2002.
There’s a public hearing at every city council meeting and those who wish to speak sign up ahead of time. In this particular clip, a man steps to the podium to address the council about homeland security:
“I’m here tonight to ask, request John Walsh of the FBI’s Most Wanted to make public and request a number one, America’s, number one public enemy. We have a rogue helicopter pilot on the loose inside this airspace. He’s also on the loose inside this country.”
He went on the say, “I’ve been ready to explode, like Mt. Helens, since the weekend of May 27 and 28. And what happened to me was the evening of the 28th I woke up in my house. Late in the evening, early morning, the a.m.”
Thompson then grabs a hold of the podium and shakes it with both hands.
“And it shakes, and it gets shaken…and it shakes for over a minute to two minutes. It shook constantly. And it was the same white helicopter that I saw on Sunday afternoon that flew over my house when I walked from my part of the house to my garage. It was the exact same…”
And then Mayor Pat McCrory interrupts saying, “I’m worried about the boy scouts in the audience and they might be getting scared because of your behavior.”
“That’s fine," the guy says. "They have a right to be scared because that’s why I’m here tonight. I was scared. I was in danger and I was threatened. My life was in danger because we have a helicopter pilot that flew 25 to 30 feet off my roofline between the Magnolia tree and the property line for one to two minutes. And then he bailed out. And I followed him and I tracked him down.”
I want this pilot. I want…it’s a matter of national security. Wherever you are mister helicopter pilot, come out of your hole. And you too George Shinn because you’re in that helicopter, you’re in that helicopter, and you’re nothing but a chameleon, a lemon headed, coward…and I’m after it buddy and you’re going to pay for it. Good night.”
What’s the most popular video on WCNC.com so far this year? Kellie Pickler on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Kellie was a correspondent on the red carpet for the MTV Video Music Awards. A close second was Kellie’s raw interview with Access Hollywood.
Do you have a crazy video clip that keeps circulating the Internet? Let us know and we may link to it.
What was with Connie Chung's "swan song" from "Weekends with Maurie & Connie" on MSNBC? Here's the link:

Oh - how hilarious!!
Just after the man was called to speak (and presumably as he was headed to the podium), you can actually hear the Mayor say "Uh-oh".
FUNNY!!
Some left a funny link to a MySpace account that someone set up for David Thompson.
