A couple of things: I'm sticking with landfall near Lake Charles, for sure on the La side of the Tx/La state line. I can see why this thing will stall after landfall. The trough which is helping to steer Rita North may cause a slight jog to the East right before landfall, which I fully expect, then move on and she'll get trapped under the ridge. The good news here is that trough should also allow some Southwesterly shear to slightly weaken the storm. Intensity should be 120-130 mph at landfall. Surge potential in Cameron Parish will be close to 20 feet! SELA should worry abut heavy rain and the tornado threat. There will be a tornado watch issue this afternoon. Not many changes to my previous thinking, if some come I?ll post when I can, but since I'm on WWL-TV now you can watch for the latest updates. I'll be honest on-air like I am with everyone on this forum. Stay safe!! Brad |
