I'm having a tough day emotionally. I think everything is really starting to get to me.

One thing about shooting is that we shoot through a little black and white viewfinder so it really doesn't seem real at times. The last few days have been starting to feel real.

Being up in the helicopter and looking out the windows was real. Seeing houses, now wood was real. Seeing roads wiped out so no one can get in was real. Talking to more and more people is real.

It's just hard and I didn't lose anything. I still have everything. I just feel so bad for these people.

I was pumping gas out back behind the station talking to one of the employees here. He lost everything and he said to me "I now know what it feels like to be homeless."

That was just really hard for me to swallow today. How do you respond to something like that? I'm sorry? It just doesn't seem like enough. I'm just drained. I'm not complaining; I don't mind being down here and I wouldn't mind coming back down to help, today has just been hard.

I flew around for 5.2 hours today. I went to Saint Bernard's Parish, Long Beach and Bay Saint Louis today. They are all gone. Nothing really left. I just put some stuff together for air and it was tough to look at again. It's one of those things that are tough to look at, but it's so bad that you can't help looking at it. I hope that makes sense.

Tomorrow we are going home, but before we do I'm going to go flying again. I'm going to meet Pilot Bob at the airport at 0615 and get traffic shots. They are letting some people back to go get things. Hopefully some have things to get. President Bush is going to be back in town tomorrow so we have to go early before they close the air space down.

Have a good night.

Jennifer
