NEWPORT, R.I. - Kyle Conley drilled three two-run home runs as Newport continued its po stseason offensive attack en route to a 13-]] victory over Pittsfield in Game 1 of the best-of-three New England Collegiate Baseball League Southern Divisional Championship Series Tuesday.
Conley led the 16-hit Newport attack by going 5-for-5 with three home runs, one double, five runs scored and six runs batted in. Through three games in the playoffs, he is now batting .538 (7-for-13) with four home runs, two doubles and 10 runs batted in. His slugging percentage for the postseason is a robust 1.615.
In addition to Conley's big night, Kyle Rhoad had a home run, two singles, two RBI and two runs scored. Alex Gregory added a single and three runs scored, while Nick Santomauro doubled twice and had one RBI.

Starting pitcher Geoff Brown (1-0) made the support count, going six strong innings for the victory. Brown allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and four walks. He also struck out five batters.
Newport's offense has produced at least nine runs in each of its three postseason games thus far. The Gulls are batting .360 as a team with eight home runs and 31 runs scored. Opponents are batting just .210 with one home run and 10 runs over the same stretch.
Jake Rosenbeck had a solo home run, one double and two RBI for Pittsfield. Craig Hertler and Jayson Langfels each had two hits and two runs scored for the Dukes.
Game 2 of the series will be played Wednesday, Aug. 6 (7 p.m.) in Pittsfield. Stephen Peterson is expected to start for Newport, while Louie Bernardini will get the nod for Pittsfield.
