St. Raphael's Ray Johnson hit two grand slams in the same inning; accounting for 11 RBIs in leading Wyatt Detention to a 21-0 rout of Maine in the Junior American Legion New England Regionals yesterday at McCarthy Field in West Warwick. According to the Baseball Almanac's "Fast Facts," only 11 major league players have ever hit two grand slams in one game and only Fernando Tatis (St. Louis, April 23, 1999) ever hit two in one inning. So the high-schooler is truly in rare company. Wyatt will be looking for another big game from Johnson as they play again Saturday against New Hampshire in one semifinal of the Winners' Bracket. The finals will be played Sunday. |
