Bryant University football fans will be able follow the Bulldogs as they begin their first season of Division I will now be able to do so throughout northern Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. The department of athletics is pleased to announce radio station WOON-AM 1240 is the new home of Bryant University sports starting with the 2008 Bulldog football season.
Fans will be able to listen to all 11 Bryant football games, home and away this season on WOON-AM 1240, as well as online through the station's website. John McCarthy, the longtime voice of Bulldog football, will return to call the live action this season starting with Bryant's season-opener August 30 when the Bulldogs travel to Central Connecticut for a 5 p.m. game.
"We are excited about the opportunity for our fans in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts will now have to follow Bryant sports on WOON once again," said Bryant Director of Athletics Bill Smith. "To be able to showcase the success of our student-athletes and coaches during this exciting time is very important as we begin the first season of Division I competition."
WOON-AM 1240, located in Woonsocket, R.I., was once the home of Bryant basketball in the late 90's and will broadcast all of Bryant's home men's basketball games in 2008-09.
