Top-seeded Mardy Fish, ranked No. 41 in the world, lost to qualifier Rohan Bopanna of India, 7-6 (6), 7-5, today in the second round of the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, continuing the 32-year-old Curse of the Casino. No top seed has won this tournament since it became part of the professional tour in 1977. Fish also lost last year as the No. 1 seed. Bopanna is ranked No. 374. Bopanna hit 14 aces to 8 for Fish. He made only 51 percent of his first serves, but when he got it in, he won 84 perrcent of those points. Fish said he was "extremely, extremely disappointed" with the loss and that he "desperately wants to do well here." He will have to wait until next year. |
