Reports link Ron Wilson to Toronto Maple Leafs

Ron Wilson, the East Providence High School and Providence College product, may soon sign a contract to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs, if news outlets in Toronto have it right. Mark Purdy, writing in the San Jose Mercury News, notes that Wilson would face quite a challenge as an American occupying one of the truly high-profile jobs in Canadian sport:
"If the reports are true, Wilson is not just going to coach in Canada. He also is going to coach the most widely followed team in English-speaking Canada. He is going to coach in the media capital of Canada. He is going to coach a team that has not won the Stanley Cup since 1967 - and has been absent from the Cup finals longer than any other Canadian team, including expansion Ottawa."
