NBA FINALS PREGAME: Garden guards don't recognize Abdul-Jabbar
BY KEVIN McNAMARA
Journal Sports Writers
BOSTON -- The Lakers have a star-studded assistant coaching staff, led by Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kurt Rambis, former Celtic and Laker Brian Shaw and ex-Chicago Bull Craig Hodges are also helping Phil Jackson.
Abdul-Jabbar was a scheduled guest on a WEEI radio show several hours before the game but he was delayed about a half hour getting into the Garden. He apparently didn’t have the proper credentials. Guess his record 38,000 career points aren’t good enough.
