| NBA FINALS PREGAME: Rivers says Leon Powe or PJ Brown to start »
BY KEVIN McNAMARA LOS ANGELES -- Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins will not play in tonight's Game Five of the NBA Finals. There is no word on who will replace him in the starting five. Perkins strained his shoulder playing defense in Game Four on Lamar Odom and was initially diagnosed with a strained shoulder. There was no update on the injury tonight but Perkins was seen Saturday not using his left shoulder at all while shooting lightly at practice. How do the Celtics fill in for Perkins? They could start PJ Brown, James Posey or Leon Powe but it's clear all three big men will see more extensive playing time tonight. Perkins is averaging 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 19.5 minutes through the Finals. |
