Harris poll lists Americans' favorite sports
Feb. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Three in 10 people in the U.S. said professional football is their favorite sport, according to a survey by Harris Interactive. The poll was conducted online from Jan. 15-22, among 2,302 adults, of whom 1,562 followed one or more sport.
The results also showed that baseball was the second-favorite sport, followed by college football and auto racing. Professional hockey replaced men's pro basketball as the fifth-favorite sport in the U.S.
The popularity of the National Football League has increased six percentage points since Harris began conducting the survey in 1985, while Major League Baseball's has declined eight percentage points. Auto racing, including Nascar, has seen its popularity increase by five percentage points.
