La Salle's Mack finishes third in Mile at Dartmouth Invitational
La Salle’s senior distance runner Jeanne Mack yesterday moved an important step closer to being considered for a spot in next month’s Millrose High School mile in New York City. Competing in the Dartmouth Invitational’s mile run, in Hanover, N.H., Mack finished third with a time of 4 minutes, 56.57 seconds. The race was won by Caitlin Lane, of New York, in 4:55.25. With her Dartmouth performance, Mack - who placed fifth with a clocking of 5:04.84 in last month’s Brown Invitational mile - bettered her chances at securing one of 10 spots in the Millrose field. Mack will next run the mile at the Yale Invitational, in New Haven, on Jan. 19. Westerly’s Andrew Springer, meanwhile, won the Dartmouth boys’ mile with a time of 4:21.87. His Bulldog teammate Tim O’Loughlin finished eighth in 4:33.82.
