Boston Bruins center Marc Savard was selected Monday to the Eastern Conference team for the NHL All-Star game. Savard, chosen for the first time in his 10 seasons, leads the Bruins with 47 points on 11 goals and 36 assists. He joins Boston defenseman Zdeno Chara, who was selected as a starter for the game, which will take place Jan. 27 in Atlanta. Last season, his first with Boston, Savard had a career-best 74 assists and had 96 points, one less than his high set the previous season with Atlanta. --AP

The Rhode Island Rams have fallen one place in both the AP writers poll and the ESPN coaches poll, but last week's loss to Dayton did not relegate them to the realm of the unranked. URI is 23rd in the latest AP poll, down from 22nd last week, and 21st in the coaches poll, down from 20th.
