Wind, rain ground Brown
New Haven -- The remnants of Hurricane Noel battered the Yale Bowl with wind, rain and cold today, grounding Brown's passing game but not stopping Yale's vaunted rushing attack, which produced a 17-7 victory for the 8-0 Bulldogs. Brown dropped to 3-5, 2-3 in the Ivy League.
Tailback Mike McLeod rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown, third-string tailback Jordan Farrell carried for 78 yards and a TD, and Alan Kimball kicked a 20-yard field goal into the gusty wind. McLeod broke the Yale career rushing record of 3,393 held by Robert Carr. He has 3,515 yards with two games remaining in his junior year.
Brown quarterback Michael Dougherty, the leading passer in the Football Championship Subdivision, completed only 10 of 31 passes for 99 yards and was intercepted twice. He did connect with flanker Buddy Farnham for a 43-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Brown will play its final home game of the season next Saturday against Dartmouth.
