Mike Weir lines up his putt on the 15th hole during the first round of the Deutsche Bank Championship today. Weir birdied the hole.
``The greens were so good, so fast,’’ he said. ``It was one of my best putting rounds of the year.’’ As well as he played, he is not in the lead. Ryan Moore, a UNLV product who is one of a host of young stars on tour, is at 7-under with three to play. Heath Slocum is 5-under with one left and Brett Wetterich 5-under through 15. Even with all the good scores, though, the bulk of the crowd is along the first and second holes right now. That’s because the threesome of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh tees off in 20 minutes. |
