Brett and Dana Quigley post-round chat

Brett and Dana Quigley, resplendent in their pink visors, white polos and pink pants -- Dana is even wearing dark pink-and-white golf shoes -- just left the media room. Here are some snippets from their conversation:

You always get going on the back nine.
Brett: I think we try too hard at the beginning and then we get going.
Dana: There are really hard pin placements out there. They kind of -- Brett and I talked about it -- they had Tuesday pins out there on Monday.

Would you like to talk about Oakmont (where Brett missed the cut at the U.S. Open)?

Brett: I played there three years ago in a pro-am with some friends and I said then that it was going to be the hardest U.S. Open course ever. They have (the greens) rated 14 for members [14 is considered extremely fast, and is usually reserved only for the U.S. Open]. They love that Aaron Baddeley triple-bogeyed the first hole. They love that. It's crazy.

Wannamoisett is like Firefly compared to Oakmont, and that's not to disrespect Firefly or Wannamoisett. It's a U.S. Open course from tee to green and once you're on the greens you can't believe how hard it is. You can't believe how fast and how much slope those greens have. I birdied the second hole today and that was more than I made in two days at Oakmont.

Does it ever get old to play here?
Both of them: No. We start talking about it in the wintertime. We always talk about it, practice for it. We're on pins and needles in January because that's when the invitations come out.

Do you have a Lee Trevino anecdote?
Dana: Here's a great story: (R.I. native) George Asante, who caddies on our tour (the Champions Tour), caddied for Lee at Hickory last year. Lee is tough on his caddies; he gives them a hard time good-naturedly. There was tremendous rain and we had to walk. Lee had a little standup bag, and Paul (Quigley, who caddies for his brother sometimes) and I are talking to Lee about George, and Trevino's line was he's had pullcarts that were better caddies than George. We talk about it all the time. Lee's funny like that with everybody; it's terrific.

What outfits will you wear tomorrow?
Both: It's a secret. Natalie (Gulbis) was mad today. She said, "You outdressed us today." But she's coming with pink tomorrow, so we'll have to lay off the pink in her honor.
