Revs blank Dynamos
New England scored an early goal and made it stand to help the Revolution defeat the Houston Dynamo 1-0 Saturday night.
The defending Major League Soccer champion Dynamo slipped to 2-4-1 by losing for the fourth time in the past five games. Houston didn't lose its fourth game until July 26 last season.
The Revolution, which leads the MLS Eastern Conference, improved to 5-1-2.
Houston and New England played three 1-1 ties last season, including in the MLS playoffs when Houston advanced on a shootout.
The Revolution went ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute on an unassisted goal by midfielder Shalrie Joseph from 15 yards. It was the only shot New England took in the first half.
Houston dominated control of the ball in the first half, taking five shots and having three corner kicks to none for the Revolution.
The Dynamo took 11 shots for the game and got four on goal. The Revolution had three total shots with only one on goal.
Six yellow cards were called during the game, four of them on Houston.
