SI: China Bowl to be cancelled
Sports Illustrated's Peter King has posted a story saying that the NFL will call off its much-ballyhooed China Bowl, which was to have been played between the Patriots and Seahawks this summer.
King said the league will announce the cancellation of the game early this week, citing two reasons: the first is that with the first-ever regular season NFL game outside the U.S. set for London on Oct. 28, the league does not want to cut corners on either and will devote its full energies to the Dolphins-Giants game; and because waiting to go to China in 2009 (the Olympics are in Beijing in '08) means the game will be played in beautiful new Olympic Stadium rather than the old Workers' Stadium, where the game was to be played this August.
