Jim Donaldson at the Masters: Dice-K below par
AUGUSTA, Ga. _ Kosaku Horiwaki of the Tokyo Broadcasting System had just finished a telecast from the Masters back to Japan when he was asked what he thought of Daisuke Matsuzaka's winning debut Thursday night for the Red Sox.
``I have seen him pitch better in Japan,'' said Horiwaki. ``He wasn't great (against Kansas City), but the results were good.''
Does Horiwaki think the Red Sox paid too much for the right-handed pitching star?
``Doesn't everybody think that?'' he replied. ``Except, perhaps, the Seibu Lions.''
``All of Japan is rooting for him,'' Horiwaki added. ``I'm just sorry none of the Japanese players here (at the Masters) are doing as well as he is.''
