Jim Donaldson at the Masters: Chilly again
AUGUSTA, Ga. _ There are no official statistics on this, but it certainly appears that a Masters record is being set this weekend for number of woolen hats, gloves, scarves, and parkas worn at Augusta National.
While not expected to be as cold as yesterday, when temperatures barely got into the 50s, and felt at least 10 degrees lower because of chilly winds gusting between 15 and 20 mph, it was 39 when I arrived at the course just after 8 this morning.
The course looks lovely, under sunny, bright-blue skies, but scoring once again figures to be difficult because the greens are firm and fast, and there is enough wind to affect players' all-important approach shots.
