Bruins skate past Lightning
Brad Boyes had two goals and Tim Thomas made 24 saves, leading the surging Boston Bruins past host Tampa Bay, 6-2, last night.
Marco Sturm, Phil Kessel, Brandon Bochenski and Stanislav Chistov had Boston’s other goals. The Bruins have won eight of 10 to move within five points of Carolina for the final Eastern Conference playoff berth.
The Southeast Division-leading Lightning not only lost for just the fifth time in 21 games, enforcer Andre Roy was given an automatic three-game suspension for abusing the officials when he made a gesture after departing the penalty box at the game’s conclusion.
