If you were surprised to hear cheers on TV yesterday when scores and calls went the Patriots' way in Buffalo, you haven't tried to get tickets for a home game at Gillette lately. You can get tickets to Buffalo games, and many Pats fans were there yesterday. Buffalo News grumbled about how their hotel reservations displaced National Grid workers cleaning up after the recent snowstorm.

"We were moving the ball, and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot, which has been the story the whole year," Bills quarterbacks coach Turk Schonert said. "As soon as we find a way to quit beating the Bills, then we can start competing against the other team."

COMMENTARY Bad day leaves onlookers uncomfortably numb:

They're boring. Unwatchable. I'd call them a train wreck, but a train wreck has a way of commanding your attention. These Bills have become a perfect excuse to shut off the TV and spend your Sunday afternoon hauling broken trees out to the curb.

At least you have a team that can win football games. Not so for Danny's overpaid bunch of losers who choked against Indy yesterday. The Redskins drew a bye next week but talk radio in these parts is getting ugly.

Yes, but we have the hapless Red Sox, too. I ignore them, though.

It's just plain interesting to watch how the Patriots get there. About 21 to 3 yesterday we felt pretty comfortable -- much better than the nailbiters.

There's a rendezvous with Vinatieri up ahead though. That's gonna be tough.
