Mo' Day; Al Gore on SNL; mp3s: Hendrix, Allmans, croonin' Keith Richards; Firefox 2 preview

Mother's Day: Brother and husband cook while we mothers lounge.

Meanwhile...
Elsewhere: Code Pink's Mother's Day Vigil in Washington D.C. Blogs, photos and media coverage.
Al Gore on Saturday Night Live this weekend: Gore gave a mock address to the nation as if he were president. (George Bush is Commissioner of Baseball and gasoline is 19 cents a gallon.) He's not wooden any more. Video and transcript at this link at Crooks and Liars.
Jimi Hendrix. Voodoo Child, Berkeley 1970. Video, also at C&L. Near the end, he's playing guitar with his teeth.
Free mp3s: At Aquarium Drunkard, "a twenty minute live medley of the Allmans at their creative/live zenith combining "You Don't Love" me with King Curtis' "Soul Serenade."
Keith Richards, The Nearness of You -- truly weird, it sounds a little like a slow Dylan parody -- and Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On. At Joe's Vault.
Pep talk: If Newspapers Are to Rise Again: 'Reinvent or die. It's that simple.' Former San Francisco Examiner Online editor Tim Porter blogs his piece in the current issue of Nieman Reports.
From "1. Start with a question:" to "7. Finally, big ideas rule," it's a good, short read.
My favorite:
4. Kill the defensive, authoritarian newsroom culture. Break down the hierarchy. Dismantle the content silos. Don't manage, enable. Newsrooms are filled with creative people whose talents and ambitions are shackled by a plethora of inhibiting rules. Reward effort. Fail. Learn. And repeat. Free the newsroom 55,000! This is called fun.
Bon Echo (aka Firefox 2) Alpha 2 Review, with screenshots, at the Mozillalinks blog. Consider it a preview of Firefox 2, coming in September or October. (In general, alpha previews are for volunteers willing to report the bugs; betas are for early adopters. If you're just switching to Firefox, stick with the stable 1.5 release.)

Thanks for the Keith Richards links, Sheila. Very cool. Will be firing them up as soon as I finish listening to the Red Sox game online (yes, I had to become an official card-carrying member of Red Sox Nation -- www.redsoxnation.com -- so I wouldn't have to subject myself to the YES network every night.

Hey, Sean... I thought becoming a New Yorker came with a pledge to watch Yankees propaganda. Do you take a lot of flak for your Bosox loyalties?
