Happy birthday...

Me today, America tomorrow.

Some of my earliest memories involve sparklers, and fireworks in the sky as everybody celebrated with me.

We're starting the party with three generations heading for a South County beach. We'll figure out which one along the way.

We go to the beach so seldom, we're not equipped. We'll be the city-pale people on king-size sheets with faded bath towels. Memories of sunburns past on my birthdays make me think a stop for a beach umbrella could avoid a world of hurt tonight.

I want to jump in the ocean in the morning, leave the beach when it gets hot, have a beer and a lobster at a clam shack and be back in town before everybody else starts heading where we just came from.

Tonight, fireworks of course. Light a sparkler if you have one.

Have a great time on my birthday!
