By Philip Marcelo PROVIDENCE -- David Anderson, a Republican candidate for state representative, has filed a report with police alleging thefts of his campaign signs along Hope Street, his campaign announced today. Anderson, who is running for the District 4 seat now held by Democratic House Majority Leader Gordon D. Fox, said that campaign supporters notified him of the thefts from their front yards, which were on the 900 to 1100 blocks of Hope Street. He believes those responsible are "out of control supporters" of Fox, whose signs, also found along the same stretch of road, were untouched, he said. "Stealing campaign signs is an effort to deny candidates their free speech rights, which is considerably more serious offense than the mere theft of an item costing $4.25," he said. Anderson is CEO of Asora Education Enterprises, an education consulting firm.
