EAST GREENWICH -- If you're waiting for Sen. Joseph Biden at the Alpine Country Club in Cranston, he may be a little late. His red, white and blue-colored chartered plane touched town at Northstar Aviation at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick at 6:20 p.m. It had been due to land at 5:30 p.m. Biden, clad in a dark suit and no tie, disembarked along with a stream of at least a dozen staffers and 15 reporters who had been traveling with him. Earlier today, the Democratic vice presidential candidate had been greeting the public in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. After arriving here, he and his entourage traveled in a motorcade of at least a half-dozen cars to the home of Michael and Elizabeth Perik in East Greenwich. There, the cars drove up to the set-back house at 170 Westfield Drive, with a tent out front, by 7 p.m. in what had become the cold and dark. The crowd is scheduled to arrive at the private country club and golf course -- perhaps 15 minutes away or more -- by 7:30 p.m. But it's not likely they'll make it by then So, those who have paid a minimum of $1,000 per ticket to see Biden and help raise money for presidential nominee Barack Obama's campaign will just have to be patient. -- With reports from Journal State House bureau writer Cynthia Needham |
