David A. Bennett, a Warwick Democrat who appeared to narrowly lose Tuesday's primary for Senate District 31, said in a news release his campaign has requested a recount. Bob Kando, at the state Board of Elections, confirmed today that the recount would be Monday, the same day as a recount sought by state Sen. Stephen Alves in a West Warwick district, who appears to have been beaten by newcomer Michael Pinga. Tallies by the state Board of Elections had the race at: Erin P. Lynch: 858 votes and Bennett: 847 Democrat John C. Revens Jr. is stepping down from the seat after four decades. The campaign asked that the state Board of Elections impound all of the district's ballots and voting machines "in order to ensure a proper and accurate vote count," according to the news release today. |
