Roger A. Picard’s departure from the House to take the Senate seat he won in a special election triggered the latest shuffling of House committee seats last week. Peter Petrarca, of Lincoln, was elevated to vice chairman of the Corporations Committee, the position Picard, a Woonsocket Democrat, formerly held. Replacing Petrarca as secretary of the Corporations Committee is Edwin R. Pacheco, D-Glocester, a sitting member. Rep. Frank Ferri, D-Warwick, joins the House Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources in a seat that had been vacant since his District 22 predecessor, Peter T. Ginaitt, left the Assembly last year. Over on the Senate side, a spokesman confirmed that Picard has not yet been given committee appointments. tpina@projo.com |
