It might as well be the hottest restaurant in town.
The State House rotunda, one of Rhode Island’s most prized landmarks, is also a wildly popular one apparently.
Anyone interested in booking the area for a rally or a few picturesque wedding photos had better take a number.
Political Scene learned last week that all legislative days in the rotunda have been booked for months. The Department of Administration’s facilities management office says it is already taking reservations for events in November.
“Everyone wants to get in that building to talk to their legislator,” said Marco Schiappa, associate director of state facilities management.
Anyone is allowed into the State House when the legislature is in session, but those hoping to hold a formal event before the end of the session will probably have to settle for a Monday or a Friday when legislators aren’t even there.
Interestingly, Schiappa says the only days this session that aren’t booked solid are final ones from the middle to the end of June. “Realistically, after that most things have already been discussed by the legislature,” he told Political Scene.
