City's 8th murder, also a teenager

The police are investigating a shooting in Providence that has led to the city’s 8th murder of the year.

A 19-year-old was shot in the neck last night on Camden Avenue, according to Providence detectives.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, died early this morning at Rhode Island Hospital.

The fatal shooting follows a violent week in Rhode Island. Last Wednesday, three people in the state were killed.

In Providence, Virgilio Rojo, 17, of 470 Manton Ave., was found with a gunshot wound at 124 Eastwood Ave. He was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

That same night, Mayra Cruz, 26, was found dead in a Pawtucket apartment, and a 17-year-old was fatally shot in Woonsocket.

Has anyone noticed that when there are are attempted in other countries, people use knives and are usually unsuccessful? That's because in the rest of the "civilized" world, guns are banned. But thanks to the Supreme Court, the NRA will be challenging gun bans all over the USA. More guns = more deaths. Thanks Bush and Mr. John McBush!

Guns are not the problem. Its the people who steal these guns or acquire them illegally and use them to settle an argument or dispute. Example: Someone looked at their girlfriend so they take care of it by killing the guy who did the looking.

I sometimes wonder if the murderer and/or the murdered had ever looked around them and pondered the importance of the crumby corner of the world they inhabit and their willingness to die for it and in it? Think it over you gun toting heros!

Hey Denise,

Why is it that conservatives fight for the 2nd Amendment but couldn't care less about the 1st, 4th or 14th???? Hypocrites!

Where are the parents? I have a teenager who has had problems with a cretain group of other teens and I am appalled at how these kids talk to one another over nonsense. They don't like my daughter because she's a Cheerleader???? That's just ridiculous. They have come so far as to threaten her on a daily basis through AIM. My child is not allowed a MY Space account or any other internet chat room except for AIM. My situation is being handled by the police, but where are the parents??? Also, why should my daughter walk around in fear because of these bullies. They really should be a law about this.

I challenge Bob Arino to have a staring contest with a gun- if the gun jumps up and kills him, I'll agree to a ban.

Apparently, he also missed the murder of 7 people in Japan by one nutjob with his car and a knife. Better ban cars! Doctors kill more people every year than guns or knives combined. Let's ban doctors!

If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?
